Intimacy is dead, and we’re partying with its corpse online.
Intoxication is a post-dramatic patchwork that explores how the intense fear of being alone rules modern society, and how one person’s loneliness is symptomatic of everyone’s problem. A response to the work RAUSCH by Falk Richter & Anouk van Dijk, Intoxication came out of a near-death experience Christopher Bryant had in 2014: his resulting brain injury, displacement, and attempts to navigate the ‘dating game’.
This event is presented as part of House-Bound.
Christopher Bryant is a Griffin Award nominated playwright (Home Invasion, 2015), performer, and NIDA graduate (Master of Fine Arts (Writing for Performance), 2014) who has worked with a range of companies including Malthouse Theatre, MKA, ATYP, Apocalypse Theatre, La Mama, ACPA and MUST. His “talented and thoughtful” play Intoxication (Theatre Press) was performed to sold-out audiences at the La Mama Courthouse in the 2016 Midsumma Festival. He is the current and inaugural Russell Beedles Performing Arts Fellow at the State Library of Victoria.
