Bio
Max Burgess is a queer contemporary dance artist based in Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country. Max’s dance journey started through the Tuggeranong Arts Centre’s Fresh Funk, where they trained in commercial choreography influenced by street-styles. Max decided to pursue training in contemporary dance, moving to Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa in 2019 to attend the New Zealand School of Dance. Max has had the privilege to perform in works conceived by Eliza Sanders, Garry Stewart’s ADT, Elijah Kennar, and Josh Mu. Upon Graduating in 2021 Max is eager to investigate their artistic practice, creating work rooted in decolonisation and queerness.
