Ono is a disabled, transgender and non-binary individual of Bangladeshi descent in the early stages of their journey as a community arts producer.
Inspired by Black and Asian-led queer community spaces across England and the United States, Ono envisioned creating a space of nourishment and relief for racialised queer communities in so-called Australia. From this seedling, Ono launched DEiFY, a queer, transgender, intersex Bla(c)k, Indigenous and People of Colour (QTIBIPOC) collective here in Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri Country (Canberra). As a producer, they endeavour to disrupt traditionally neo-liberal white community arts spaces with grassroots talent that fosters intersectionality at every step.
